DA’s Welcome Letter
Hello Players, Parents, Relatives & Friends;
I want to welcome all of you to the 2010 Little League All Star Tournament, hosted by Canyon Lake Little League (11/12 & Juniors tournaments) and Lake Elsinore Little League (9/10 & 10/11 tournaments). I am looking forward to what I believe will be one of our most rewarding tournaments ever.
With that said, I would like to remind each of you that All Stars is a wonderful thing for our kids to experience. So when rooting for your teams and players please remember that good sportsmanship and setting a good example for our youth are paramount!!! Have fun and cheer your hearts out, but do not be rude, vulgar or insulting of the umpires and volunteers. None of them are paid and have donated their time and talents to help insure this tournament runs successfully. I want to thank you all in advance for your assistance in this area.
Here are a few other things that you might want to know:
1. All fields are considered neutral. A coin flip prior to each game shall decide home or visitor. This usually occurs approximately 45 minutes prior to the games scheduled start time. The winner of the coin flip will have choice of home or visitor. Home team shall occupy the third base dugout; visitor shall occupy the first base dugout.
2. District staff personnel are in charge of all tournament sites.
3. No glass containers are allowed in the dugouts.
4. No food items will be allowed in the dugout, including candy, sunflower seeds or gum (except for medical reasons).
5. No noise makers. (Includes but not limited to blow horns, whistles, plastic bottles with rocks/coins inside)
6. No ice chests or coolers will be allowed inside the park or tournament sites; with the exception of ice chests in the dugout for a team. This rule is meant to encourage support for the league hosting the tournament. The main reason a league hosts is to raise money that will be used to improve their programs. We ask all of the people enjoying the games to please support the leagues by purchasing drink and food items from the snack bars.
7. Once they enter the field, managers, coaches and players are no permitted to communicate with spectators. This rule is meant to prevent coaching from the stands. So please let the coaches do their job and do not hover around the dugouts. That said; there is NOTHING WRONG with using you kid’s name when cheering him or her on. So enjoy the game and let your child know how proud you are of him or her.
8. If you need an item delivered to the dugout; e.g., drinks, equipment, etc…, please bring that item to one of the tournament staff and we will be glad to deliver it.
9. Only the rostered manager, up to two (2) rostered coaches and the rostered players are allowed on the field forty five (45) minutes prior to game time. Parents assisting in pre-game warm-ups may not join the team once they enter the fields.
10. Only the manager, as listed on the roster, may communicate or converse with the site tournament director, umpires and scorekeepers with regard to the team and play of the team, before or during the game. However, if you have a question or concern, please feel free to approach me or one of my Assistant District Administrators.
Thanks Again & Let’s Play Ball!!!
